Investigation of Harvey and William Wilks real identity continues

Two more men arrive claiming to be brothers of Peter Wilks and say the first two that arrived are frauds.

Authorities have found many witnesses to this case, and all say the same.  Two men showed up claiming to be Peter’s real brothers, and Doctor Robinson says William had a broken arm and they had both lost their baggage.
The new Harvey said “I am Peter Wilks’s brother Harvey, and this is his brother William, which can’t hear nor speak--and can’t even make signs to amount to much, now’t he’s only got one hand to work them with.  We are who we say we are; and in a day or two, when I get the baggage, I can prove it.” (Chapter 24; 236)  The doctor said the first Harvey put down everything the new Harvey said, and said that it was convenient of William to have a broken arm so he couldn’t sign.  Robinson says he doesn’t know if the new men are frauds, but if the first two weren’t frauds, he was an idiot.
The two sets of brothers argue over the tattoo on Peter’s chest and during all the commotion to see the tattoo, the first set of brothers run away.  Authorities confirm that the first couple who claimed to be Harvey and William are frauds because they ran and never came back.  They cannot be completely sure the new one’s are not until their baggage arrives in a few days.
