Harvey and William Wilks frauds?

Doctor Robinson believes the two men claiming to be brothers of Peter Wilks are frauds.

Peter Wilks died just a few weeks before his two brothers’ arrival from England do deal with their deceased brother’s affairs.  Their names are Harvey and William Wilks, but Doctor Robinson seems to think Harvey and William are frauds.  The authorities recently took Harvey and William Wilks in for questioning.

Authorities told us when Robinson first met them, he said, “You talk like an Englishman--don’t you?  It’s the worst imitation I ever heard.  You Peter Wilks’s brother.  You’re a fraud, that’s what you are!”  (Chapter 25; 219) The doctor also claims to have told Harvey’s niece, Mary Jane, “to turn your backs on that scoundrel, and have nothing to do with him, the ignorant tramp, with his idiotic Greek and Hebrew as he calls it.”  (Chapter 25; 220)  The doctor also said that Mary Jane did not believe him, and he rested his case and left.
Authorities say that Robinson said “He is the thinnest kind of impostor-has come here with a lot of empty names and facts which he has just picked up somewheres..” (Chapter 25; 220)
We are still waiting for more information on this case from the authorities.  Check your copy of News for the Commoner Tuesday for more news on this case
